March 28th... SHATTERED DREAMS... With current MRC Champion Karamjit Singh relegated to a rented Proton Satria, this seemed like an ideal opportunity for James Russell to have a steady drive to first overall. Unfortunately this dream was shattered when the engine of his Group A Subaru Impreza lost all power about 1km into SS1, and he became first retirement instead. Broken piston rings are suspected. With our customer drivers unavailable for this round, it was an early departure from Bahau in Negeri Sembilan for the whole team. There were consolotations though, only one car in four finished the rally, so James was not the only disappointed driver; and media attention was high, and much appreciated. |

March 18th... NEW DRIVER TESTING... Making a switch from single-seaters to rallying, is 21 year-old driver Azry Mohd. Noor, who tested recently with us at Dengkil. Although he had never driven on gravel stages, he was up to speed in a very short space of time, and promises to be a rising star in the rally scene. He is seen here with Kumares, who won a Rally Experience day at the recent "Road to Sepang" weekend. |

March 17th... "ROAD TO SEPANG" EXPO... Training partner VR4U Technologies asked SR Motorsport to setup a showcase of rally & formula cars, to support its "Road to Sepang" weekend. The event was timed to be one week before Malaysia's F1 event, and will become annual. A number of cars was on display, and the participants appreciated the level of interest from the media. Coverage was shown on several local TV stations plus articles in the press. The weekend featured kart races, radio controlled car demonstration, a gala dinner, plus the expo. Congratulations to Universiti Tenaga Nasional's motorsports club, which was voted "Best of Show," and to the kart race winner, Kumares a/l N.K. Nathidylgen, whose prize was a Rally Experience session and a ride in a rally car at speed! |
