The secret rally series...... What if they held a rally and no one came? That seems to be the objective of the organizers of the KKS-AAM Tarmac Rally Series. Despite having Zone-International status, dates keep changing, and not even the regular competitors are informed. Luckily for them, the rally grapevine was working and a handful of people turned out for round two, which was held at the Shah Alam Stadium last Sunday. James Russell represented SR Motorsport in our trusty GC8 Impreza, with novice co-driver Hafiz Kammel reading notes. They probably shouldn't have bothered, because all the other competitors had learned from round one that street tires don't work on dusty tarmac, and had turned up with semi-slick race tires. As a result James and Hafiz adopted maximum oversteer, showered spectators with sand, looked really spectacular, and finished almost last! If we ever manage to discover the date of round three, we'll do likewise, and will turn-up with more suitable rubber. |
