A mixed day at the Yamaha Cup......
James Russell, who is managing the VR4U Kart Team in this year's Yamaha Cup reported mixed results from last Sunday's event:

"Our four drivers for this event, held at the Sepang Kart Circuit, were Mohd. Fazreen, Engku Armand, Jamal Arif and Raja Izzatil Nabila. After the first event held last month, a lot of testing was done resulting in each of the drivers making large gains in speed and laptimes, and with all four looking forward to the race. Engku Armand had a much tougher race on his hands in the cadet class with many new competitors. Unfortunately in the first race, his good qualifying came to nothing when a rear wheel hub snapped and he only had three wheels on his wagon! The second race went better as he started from the back and fought his way through to eighth.

"The other three, in the junior category, didn't qualify too well, as they put new tires on, they all lost some pace. With such a tight field, small losses meant they weren't in the top ten, despite running in the top five in practice.

"Jamal qualified 12th, but was knocked off on the warm up lap by another karter. And in the second race, starting from the back, was again knocked off on the first corner. He was left very dissapointed after such a promising pace. Fazreen qualified 14th., and after a very tough midfield battle ended up 12th. in the first race. However, luck was not on the team's side as Fazreen was also involved in a first lap crash ending his second race early as well. Raja Izzatil was the only one to stay out of trouble, and improved from her 21st. qualifying position to finish 18th. in the first race and 15th. in the second, which is a large improvement from the previous race where she really struggled."
