Yamaha drivers fare better...
SR Motorsport's James Russell, who is managing the VR4U kart team reports:

Our four dirvers generally had a much better weekend, in this - round 3 of the MAM Yamaha SL Cup. In the cadet category was Engku Armand, who had improved his laptime by over a second since the last race and qualified fourth, a mere half second off pole position. Unfortunately however, his chances were blown as a first corner incident saw half the karts facing the wrong direction including Armand. He did fight back well in both races and scored a good finish in 6th. place for the second race.

In the junior category, we had three drivers entered, with Jamal Arif, Mohd Fazreen and Raja Nabila. There was a problem with a lack of staff and a change of the schedule and unfortunately they missed the qualifying session as the karts werent ready after several problems in the practice session. We elected to start from the back and also hopefully be able to avoid a first corner incident. This worked well and Jamal moved up into 12th. position, with Fazreen close behind. Raja Nabila, although much closer to race pace this race, was unable to improve from the back.

The second race was where things got interesting. It started well, despite Fazreen losing ground at the first corner. But in the last three laps, the heavens opened and Jamal kept a cool head, managing to stay on the circuit and move into third place of the MAM Rookies, and in turn winning his first trophy. Fazreen on the other hand got mixed up with another karter, and unfortunately couldn't make the finish. Raja Nabila drove well not to spin or slide off the circuit in the crazy and hectic final laps.
